Cornwall the Second Time Around: Visiting Truro and nearby attractions

This August 2020, I’ve arranged for an annual leave of a couple of days to attend a festival. Unfortunately, it was cancelled due to the pandemic. My alternative getaway wasn’t as grand but it was definitely memorable fun.

Unlike my first visit to Cornwall (by car hire), this time, I took the train. There’s a direct train to Truro from London Paddington with GWR. For my return ticket, it was £121. One way is 4.5 hours travel.

The day that I arrived, they toured me in the center and helped them with grocery shopping for Jett’s birthday bash.

Upon arrival, of course, food first.

I have a thing for housefronts in Cornwall so much I have to snap a photo.

Flambards Theme Park at Helston

Admission: £19.49

Do check the website because they have various prices for rides or attraction choices as well as NHS discount. Apart from the rides, they have indoor activities/attractions too.

Our first ride, still all smiles

Chill ride before the extreme rides. We’re already one woman down lol

The Lost Gardens of Heligan at St. Austell

Admission: £16

I didn’t have much video in this place, especially the best parts, because my battery drained out. It was a vast estate to explore.

We got lost as we got into the wrong bus. Lost girls to the lost garden indeed.
Jungle adventure for active kids and kids at heart

Crossing bridges like this
Art installations like this
Incredible plants which makes you feel like Thumbelina
A variety of plants for plants lovers
Take a snapshot in this field of wildflowers

And more wildflowers making good background
We had lunch in their restaurant before going to our next destination.

Lanhydrock House and Garden in Bodmin

We didn’t have time to explore much in here since it was almost closing time when we arrived. We just went straight to the Lanhydrock house and garden.

We got lost here again.

Jett’s Birthday

They started peparations in the morning and I helped with some tasks. Power nap before the celebration.
A typical Filipino handaan (maybe except the kimbap). Cravings satisfied!

Some home shopping. Why do I always find myself shopping in the countryside and take home big and heavy bags back to London?

Definitely, one thing I’ve learned from this pandemic is to appreciate local destinations. Also, staycations can be the best if spent with the best people.
