First Downtown Iloilo Food Crawl

Note: This is not a sponsored post or a food critique post. This is entirely just my experience joining the said event.

I joined the Downtown Iloilo Food Crawl organized by the Google Business Group – Iloilo for three reasons. First, and seriously the main reason, is because food is FREEEEE! Before I get to the other two reasons, I’ll give a bit of a background about this event. Continue reading “First Downtown Iloilo Food Crawl”

#hulinghiritsataginit: Buenos Aires Mountain Resort and Lakawon Island Resort and Spa

When bored talks by the poolside turn to impromptu getaway…

Adult pool at Puntavilla Resort, best at night with neon pool lights

Maybe that’s what being drunk with softdrinks do. One afternoon, we’re at Puntavilla hanging out in the pool, the next day, we’re on our way to Negros for a last minute summer outing. Continue reading “#hulinghiritsataginit: Buenos Aires Mountain Resort and Lakawon Island Resort and Spa”

Good Art Ain’t Cheap: Dissecting Never Not Love You from an Amateur Freelance Graphic Artist’s View

Disclaimer 1: No, this post is not a critique of the art as seen in the movie or of the movie in general. I don’t even know what point I am making in creating this post. Probably, to see the worth of freelancers. Or this might just be a random rambling.

Disclaimer 2: I guess I can call myself a freelance graphic artist because I earn from making digital art, so yeah.  I’m just speaking from an amateur’s point of view. So, if there is anything I’ve said about the freelance graphic design world that was in any way not true or partly untrue, then, please, enlighten me.

Watched Never Not Love You. Triggered by a scene where Joanne’s father sort of devalued Gio’s being a freelance graphic designer, living on just gigs. Had a conversation just recently explaining what exactly I am doing working as a freelancer currently. Piece these all together and here’s what I came up with. Recreational Farm Hopping: Jade Energetic Farm and Ephrathah Farm

Pototan and nearby towns were more of agricultural towns. It only makes sense that we compensate with inland resorts and recreational farms because we don’t have beaches to explore and mountains to climb.

Within Pototan, we have Happy Farm and Mapols Farm. But this Holy Week, my sister and her friends went to Jade Energetic Farm and Ephrathah Farm in Badiangan, Iloilo. They went there by  motorcycles, which was about 20-40 minutes (my sister’s estimate) from our town.  These two destinations were near each other. There were also plenty of signage directing you there, according to my sister, so you will not get lost. Continue reading “Recreational Farm Hopping: Jade Energetic Farm and Ephrathah Farm”

Three Life Principles

Adulting is hard. You are forced to navigate life and move forward even though you can’t really grasp the why and what for of it. It leaves you confused, distracted, and depressed most of the times.

I recently found my Mind Map notebook where I just jot down ideas and thoughts that come up in my head every now and then. One page is this:

I didn’t really force myself to establish life principles. I guess, as I went through life, I just tried to learn from past experiences and hope that I live my life meaningfully with these principles I set for myself as guide. Continue reading “Three Life Principles”

Bantayan Island: Malaya Lang, Hindi Sawi

I admit I only knew about Bantayan Island because of the movie Camp Sawi. When I saw how lovely the place was, I told myself I’ll definitely visit this place. The last time I was in Cebu, I was about to go there but some typhoon came and I was told the boat operation was cancelled. I was stuck in Cebu City for a few days and was “sawi” to go to Bantayan.

Moreover, I discovered there was a boat from the island to Estancia, a fact that made it more accessible to me. So after the last-minute event that had me packing my bag to Cebu, I tried to squeeze in Bantayan in my itinerary. But, I was informed that the boat operation to Estancia was cancelled and my Couchsurfing host also cancelled, so that’s the reason I decided to settle with Moalboal. But then again, kung sinuswerte ka nga naman, I received the payment for a writing gig I did so I went, “What the heck! Let’s go to Bantayan!” Continue reading “Bantayan Island: Malaya Lang, Hindi Sawi”

Moalboal: Chasing Sea Turtles and Sunsets

Photo credit: Giuliano of Global Gabella

Due to some last-minute circumstances, I was off to Cebu with little planning. Well, I was there for an exam but then of course, I didn’t want to miss the chance to explore Cebu beaches which was something I kept on postponing the few times I went there.

So, why Moalboal? Apart from thinking it’s once of the closest to Cebu City, I found a cheap hostel there which is close to the beach. Pretty simple decision making, right? Continue reading “Moalboal: Chasing Sea Turtles and Sunsets”

3 Benefits of Being a Transcriptionist

A transcriptionist, or a transcriber, is someone who listens to an audio and types whatever is being said. And no, you’re not typing while listening to a live call unlike what most people who asked me what type of job is it thinks. It’s a recorded audio. I think it’s a simple job, you listen, you type. Done.

I like being a transcriptionist because I think it’s a lazy job, and I have plenty of lazy days. But before any transcriber/transcriptionist reacts negatively to this, it’s just my thought, but of course, you know the truth about this type of work. It’s lazy but it’s strenuous—in the mind, eyes and fingers. Continue reading “3 Benefits of Being a Transcriptionist”
